BAGONG CALARIAN, Zamboanga City – September 28, 2024 – In a significant step toward enhancing educational opportunities in remote communities, the Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM), in partnership with Mistah Foundation USA, held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new school building at Sibutu National High School’s Senior High School in Brgy. Datu Amilhamja Jaafar, Sibutu, Tawi-Tawi.

The new one-story, four-classroom facility will help address the growing need for educational infrastructure to support the increasing number of senior high school students in Sibutu. Once completed, these classrooms will provide a more conducive learning environment, enabling students to pursue their studies in a space designed to meet their educational needs and ambitions.

The ceremony was attended by local officials, military personnel, community leaders, and other stakeholders, symbolizing NFWM’s dedication to supporting community development beyond its primary defense responsibilities. This initiative highlights NFWM’s commitment to playing an active role in the sustainable growth and peace-building efforts in Western Mindanao.

The construction of additional classrooms will improve access to quality education for youth in Sibutu, a vital investment in the future of this community.
