A Project for Nature: MISTAH Tree Planting Activity in BusuangaSitio Alito, Brgy. Cheey, Busuanga, Palawan –
It is a known fact that global warming has been taking a toll in our environment, and planting trees is a huge combat to this problem. Trees and other plants aid in reducing the heat in our surroundings, it also hold tons of water during rainy days to avoid floods and soil erosion in cities and municipalities, and to add to that it is also a natural habitat for different animals. Trees are extremely beneficial to our planet. Every tree we plant is abreath of life.About 20 people in another multi sectoral group headed by, Com. Richard T. Gubatan (PN)Res., from Mistah Foundation, the 41st Naval Squadron & Navy Reservists of Coron, together with the help of barangay officials in Brgy. Cheey sponsored a Tree Planting Activity in a secluded areacalled, Sitio Alito.
The journey from Coron to Sitio Alito, was a dusty drive in about anhour and a half. The team brought with them their foods and necessities. They stayed overnight to mingle with the folks and learn about their living situations. The next day, the multi sectoral group started their trek up the mountains. It was a very tough walk with the elevation and rocks. Furthermore, it was extremely dangerous because during their trek they encountered several wild pigs and snakes. When they arrived on the designated spots for the activity, they started planting the seedlings that they brought with them. The foundation donated a total of 200 seedlings, a mix between Narra & Mahogany. Although it was exhausting, it was also very satisfying for the group. But thegroup’s challenge was not entirely done after their planting activity.Because, when they trekked down the mountain it started raining hard which made the road slippery. It took the group 2 hours to reach the Sitio.
After all the taxing work the whole day, the team along with the people from the activity, and some natives of the Sitio prepared a boodle fight to share for everyone. The next day before the team’sdeparture they swam on the beach, had their talk to the folks andinformed them that they will be back soon.
