Sitio Mapita, Aguilar, Pangasinan – “ To plant a tree is to give body and life to one’s dreams of a better world.” Russell Page
On 23rd of January 2021, Mistah Foundation USA sprarheaded by Cdr. Richard T. Gubatan joined forces with The Rotary Club of the Philippines for a tree planting activity. 70 Rotarians including Cdr. Gubatan proceeded on the venture to assure complete accomplishment of the tasks.
In a heavy downpour at the Rotarians travelled an hour to the mountains of Mapita. They arrived at 6:00 in the morning in Cdr. Gubatan’s humble abode in the said place. He prepared a breakfast buffet for everyone before getting ready to set foot in the hike.
At exactly 7:00am, they advanced on foot uphill to their destination. MISTAH foundation prepared 1000 seedlings of Philippine Mahogany and Acacia Manguim (Brown Sandalwood). It was indeed a special Tree Planting Activity, for which the participant’s decided to include their names on every planted tree. They left a lengthwise paper on each tree for small memorabilia.
For the participants, the rainfall was a blessing from up above, because it was a rare phenomenon to have this kind of weather in late January. They were favored by the Almighty Father, He had given them a sense of delight to have a 90 percent guarantee that the planted trees will survive.
They finished the joint project at noon, they again hiked downhill and other volunteers left on Cdr.Gubatan’s home prepared lunch for the exhausted nature lovers. Indeed, it was a mission accomplished. The Rotarians and MISTAH staffs had again fulfilled their dream of restoration in their home country.
